These are Olive and her friends' favorite homemade dog biscuits. They do not contain any peanut butter in case someone in the house has an allergy. I made these with all organic ingredients.

Serves: 24-40
Ingredients
3 slices uncured bacon
2¼ cups whole wheat flour
½ cup toasted wheat germ
½ cup ground flax seed
½ cup nonfat dry milk
2 large eggs
1¼ cups low sodium chicken broth
⅓ cup chopped parsley
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 shallow baking sheets with parchment paper
Cook the bacon until crisp and set aside to cool. Finely chop bacon
Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon fat
Combine chopped bacon, whole wheat flour, wheat germ, ground flax seed and dry milk in medium bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk together reserved bacon fat, egg, broth and parsley
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together with wooden spoon or spatula until coarse dough forms
Knead the dough several times until it comes together to form a ball
Add more stock if you feel like the dough is not holding together well
Turn dough out on to a lightly floured surface and roll out to ¼" thick disc
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes (like making cookies) - reassembling dough scraps and rolling out again to make more cut outs until all of the dough is used up
Bake the dog cookies until lightly browned and pretty hard about 40-45 minutes
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely - they will harden more as they cool
Store in an airtight container
This recipe will make about 24-40 treats depending on the size of the cutters
