Winter Chic Outfit for Fashion Friday
The winter has well and truly settled into New England. I find myself mentioning that in every post – sorry to dwell, but the winter weighs heavy on my mind!
I have been thinking about the perfect outfit for a business meeting with a new client in Virginia. It is Virginia, so I don’t have to wear a sleeping bag type coat to stay warm with my fur lined winter boots and a hat that makes me look like a Russian spy in winter (of course, as I get ready to post this article, DC is preparing for “snowmagedon or snowpocalypse” – but when the world climate is not going haywire…). I can wear wool and silk and even a little pink to give a nod to the promise of spring.
I am a designer so a suit is not essential. I like to look put-together, chic and understated. I tend toward classic when I work so that I don’t clash with an interior or distract from the discussion of my clients ideas or residence. That being said I also can’t look too boring and drab either.
This week’s Fashion Friday outfit consists of:
- Tara Jarmon Peter Pan Collar Blouse
- 1205 Pleated Checked Wool Wide Leg Pants Navy
- Scanlon Theodore Lace Cami
- Eileen Fisher Dream Pull on Boots in Gray
- Coach Tote in Petal
- Michele Watch and Band
- Vintage Tiffany Platinum Diamond Flower Earrings
- Carven Oversized Cocoon Coat in Light Pink
- HM Patterned Scarf
- Chico Bracelet
- Navy Mock Lizard Belt from Eliot Rhodes
- Steampunk Vintage Retro Round Sunglasses
- Trish McEvoy Lip Gloss in Sexy Petal
- Trish McEvoy Sexy #9 Blackberry and Vanilla Musk
- Essie Nailpolish – Cashmere matte colors with gloss top coat
I think this is a good template for a fun yet professional outfit. You can google any of the bullet points above to locate the exact item but I think there are many possibilities for similar items that give the same look. You may even have things in your closet currently to create a part of the look and then add a few new accessories to brighten it up or make it feel new.
I always try and have the best “closet staple” items I can in my closet – a great pair of wool pants and a beautiful blouse with a pretty coat or blazer – then the other items can be changed up to update and refresh an outfit.
Happy Fashion Friday!

I like how you add perfume, lip gloss, and nail polish to the outfits! I’m not good at pulling it all together. I want those boots 🙂 Great blog, I’ll be looking forward to the Fashion Friday entries.
