Fresh – Beautiful – Flavor
Herb infused ice cubes are an easy way to add an elegant and flavorful touch to so many great drinks – from sparkling water to a great Bloody Mary. They are easy to make and can hang out in the freezer for a couple of weeks just waiting for you to need a little something extra in that refreshing beverage you are serving a guest or when hydrating with just plain water just seems too boring!
With summer on the way, your herb garden or window box will be beautifully bushy and ready for harvest. If you are not feeling your green thumb, head to the produce isle and bring home a few of your favorite herbs. I like to use mint, parsley, oregano, basil and edible forms of lavender.
I am one who struggles to drink enough water – it just gets tedious – especially if it is not super hot out. So, here is one of my tricks to make water more interesting and make staying hydrated more tasty… I like to use lemon, raspberries, blueberries and cucumber to infuse plain water and then add a complimentary herbed ice cube for looks and added taste.
I have included some photos with my own simple instructions for making herb infused ice cubes. I have also added a link at the bottom of this post to a great article with ideas for making your own flavor infused waters! Ahhhhh…refreshing…..
I like to use a silicone ice trays – Snip a few herbs
Fill your ice tray with water – I use purified or spring water for nice clean and clear cubes
Add a few sprigs of your favorite herb to each cube compartment
