Trizepatide Times: Week One – Welcome to the BLEK Zone
I chose to kick off my Zepbound adventure on a Sunday. Why Sunday, you ask? Because I thought it sounded like a responsible adult move—post-Paris trip but pre-holiday madness. What could go wrong, right?
First, I was so unprepared that I had to YouTube how to give myself the injection. (Thank you, kind strangers on the internet) After a brief tutorial, I summoned my courage, gave myself the shot, and waited for something magical to happen.
And waited.
By hour 36, I felt... weird. Not exactly sick, but not my normal fabulous self either. Weird morphed into the unholy trifecta of nausea, joint aches, and a headache that felt like thunder rumbling under my skull.
BLEK: The First Week Mood
The first week was a blur of BLEK, which, for the uninitiated, is a delightful combo of nausea and regret. It reminded me of the “morning sickness” era of my life. (Note to self: listen when smart people talk). Turns out, those pesky side effects everyone warns you about? They aren’t kidding.
If I could turn back time, I would’ve taken my doctor’s advice and gotten nausea meds beforehand. Rookie mistake. But I rallied and reached out to my Trizepatide squad (a.k.a. friends who are one year into this joyride) for advice. They generously shared their wisdom again…not mentioning that they had already told me all of this before:
Drink water. Like, become a human aquarium.
Protein is your BFF. Chicken, fish, eggs, yogurt, or, if you’re fancy, bone broth.
Small bites = big energy. Grazing is the new dining.
Avoid junk food. Yes, we all know this, but now it’s non-negotiable.
Chill out. That first week is not for heroics; it’s for naps.
Fun with Side Effects
Let me tell you, hydration is a full-time job on this medication. I’m not a water enthusiast on my best day, but the ahem constipation situation made me a believer. A good mix of water and veggies worked wonders for my sluggish gut. Pre- and probiotics were like bringing a butter knife to a sword fight.
Protein cravings hit me hard. When chicken or fish felt like too much, I turned to bone broth. Who knew sipping savory liquid could feel so bougie? Pro tip: skip the sugary holiday drinks and grab some high-quality bone broth. It’s like a warm hug for your stomach.
Small bites became my saving grace. I’m talking tiny bites, every couple of hours. It’s like grazing for survival. And honestly? It works.
Food Noise, Begone!
One friend nailed it when she said, “This shot turns off the food noise in my head.” At first, I didn’t get it. But by day seven, I realized I wasn’t obsessing over snacks or fantasizing about dessert. I was eating because I needed to, not because I was bored or craving junk.
Week One Recap: Flu Vibes, But Worth It
By the end of week one, I was five pounds lighter. Sure, I felt like I’d had the stomach flu for a week, but hey, progress is progress. I may have been tired, but I was also determined to keep going. This is just the beginning of my Trizepatide Times journey—stay tuned for more weird, wild, and hopefully less BLEK-filled updates!
